2208 CUNICAL CHEMISTRY, Vol. 39, No. 10, 1993 An altered membrane permeability due to a diffuse ischemic process could have caused the increase in the enzyme activities observed. Increased serum CK and CK-MB activities of this magnitude in the presence of hypethermia may indicate a variable susceptibility of individuals to the effects of hypothermia. These findings may be important in the use of hypothermia in surgery.
